Installation

🔴 Difficult — about 45 to 60 minutes with Pentalobe P2 (5-point), Y000 tri-point, Phillips #000, suction cup and plastic pry tools. You open the screen at the bottom, disconnect the battery and lift the display fully to access the TrueDepth module. Note: on the iPhone 14 Pro Max Face ID is paired to the logic board — non-OEM modules can lose Face ID functionality even if the selfie camera works.

Frequently asked questions

Will Face ID work after replacement?
Since the iPhone X, Apple pairs the TrueDepth camera to the logic board. A replacement module without a programmer (like JC or Qianli) can disable Face ID, even if the selfie camera works. The 12MP camera and FaceTime always work.

Do I need to buy the proximity sensor and earpiece separately?
On the iPhone 14 Pro Max the proximity sensor and flood illuminator are part of this TrueDepth module. The earpiece itself is a separate part.

Can I do this myself or take it to a repair shop?
Opening the display requires precision and proper heating. To re-pair Face ID you need a Face ID programmer. An experienced repair tech is strongly recommended.
