Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install drivers after replacing?
No. Windows detects the touchpad as a HID-PS/2 device as soon as the cable is connected. For gesture settings you need the Synaptics or HP driver (same version as for the old touchpad).

Does this touchpad fit slightly older/newer variants?
Only the models listed. HP sometimes uses slightly different FFC pinouts per submodel — always compare the part number on the back of the old part.

What if the cursor still stutters after replacement?
Check that the FFC cable is fully seated in the ZIF connector and the black locking clip is closed. Nine times out of ten that's the cause.
