Installation

🟡 Medium difficulty — about 30 minutes with P5 Pentalobe, T6 Torx and a spudger. You first open the bottom case, disconnect the battery and route some logic-board cables out of the way before reaching the speaker screws. Follow an iFixit guide or use an experienced repair shop.

Does this speaker fit the A1278 from 2009 or 2010?
The speaker is physically identical for mid-2011 and mid-2012. For 2009/2010 models there can be small connector differences — always check OEM number 922-9814.

Do I get both left and right speakers?
Yes, this is the complete set. Apple placed a separate speaker unit on each side of the keyboard.

What tools do I need?
P5 Pentalobe (bottom case), T6 Torx (speaker screws), spudger for connectors, optionally a plastic prying tool for adhesive strips.
